Ms. Thornton's educational foundation began at Western Kentucky University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in 2003. Following her undergraduate studies, she immediately pursued her legal education at Nashville School of Law, obtaining her Juris Doctor in 2007. After successfully completing the bar examination that summer, she was licensed to practice law in Tennessee in October 2007, marking the beginning of her distinguished legal career.
During her law school years, Ms. Thornton gained valuable practical experience clerking at a general practice firm in Nashville. This early exposure to legal practice provided her with essential skills and insights into the profession. Upon graduation and bar admission, she became an associate attorney, where she concentrated primarily on family law matters from 2007 through 2013.
In 2013, Ms. Thornton played an instrumental role in establishing Thornton & Pence, PLLC, an association of attorneys where she continued her dedication to family law practice. During this period, she handled numerous cases involving divorce proceedings, custody disputes, child support matters, paternity issues and visitation arrangements, serving clients until 2019.
Currently, Ms. Thornton’s courtroom experience spans multiple judicial venues, including circuit, chancery, juvenile and general session courts. Additionally, she has successfully handled several appellate cases before the Court of Appeals, demonstrating her comprehensive understanding of family law at various judicial levels.
Ms. Thornton maintains active membership in several professional organizations, including the Nashville Bar Association, the Sumner County Bar Association and the Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association.
