Ms. Thompson often utilizes the opinion and testimony of experts in ballistics and DNA evidence while constructing the most appropriate strategy to counter the allegations that her clients are facing, and she has achieved positive results through both jury acquittals and the negotiation of favorable plea agreements with the prosecution. These comments were made by fellow attorneys during the annual nomination process.
“I've known Ms. Thompson for several years, and I have been fortunate enough to work with her on a few cases. In light of her accoplishments, both personal and professional, I have come to believe she doesn't need sleep, or is simply a superwoman. She adopted and raised a special needs child and is currently raising a biological child, both as a single parent, all the while, attending and excelling in law school, clerking for a judge, and building a powerful and very successful solo practice. As a lawyer she is simply an oustanding advocate, speaker, teacher, client and peer counselor, and legal writer. She has performed in stellar fashion in Juvenile, Circuit, Federal, and Appellate courts. She is highly involved with various bar associations and has worked diligently with attorneys of national prominence in opposition to the death penalty. She is a firm believer in human rights, and a most zealous advocate regardless of the race, religion, creed or gender of the accused.”
