During law school, he was the chief editor of the Tennessee Law Review and part of the National Mock Trial Team.

Licensed to practice in Tennessee in 2008, Mr. McKenzie is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit.
