David Russell

A board-certified civil and personal injury trial lawyer by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, David Russell has been a legal stalwart in Amarillo since 1987. With a prosperous career of over 37 years, he has passionately dedicated himself to offering top-tier advocacy and support to clients across the Texas panhandle. At Smithee & Russell, LLP, his practice encompasses mediation, commercial litigation and personal injury litigation.

Beginning his journey primarily defending personal injury cases, Mr. Russell eventually shifted his focus to representing injured plaintiffs. His proficiency also extends to assisting businesses and individuals embroiled in contractual and other commercial disputes. Since 2000, he has played a crucial role as a mediator, helping to resolve hundreds of civil disputes. He firmly believes that a lawyer aims to facilitate fair and swift resolutions.

As an accomplished trial lawyer, Mr. Russell also excels in providing mediation services to other attorneys, aiding them in achieving client settlements without the hassle of lengthy court proceedings. A Baylor University graduate, he earned his Juris Doctor cum laude from Baylor Law School in 1987. 

During his studies, Mr. Russell was an active participant in the mock trial team and a member of the Baylor Order of the Barristers. He is licensed to practice in all Texas state courts, as well as the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit.

Nationally acclaimed for his professional excellence, Mr. Russell boasts an AV Preeminent* peer-review rating through Martindale-Hubbell and was honored as the 1994-1995 Attorney of the Year by the Texas Panhandle Association of Legal Assistants.
