Matt Sherwood is a trial lawyer who has tried over 30 cases in state and federal courts and has handled nearly 20 matters on appeal. Matt is Board Certified in Civil Trial Law and Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. When he obtained his certification in Civil Trial Law in 2017, he was the youngest attorney in the state of Texas to hold both Board Certifications.

Matt’s success has led to his selection as a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, a national association of some of the best trial lawyers in the country. Matt is also a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation (an honor bestowed on only 0.33% of Texas lawyers). Additionally, Matt was selected as a Super Lawyer by Thomson Reuters in 2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026 and was named a Rising Star by this same publication every year from 2012 to 2022.
Matt served on the Executive Committee for the Amarillo Area Bar Association for eight years, including serving as President from 2021-2022. Matt currently chairs the Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers chapter in Amarillo, which focuses on fighting against addiction issues in the profession and supporting mental health initiatives for attorneys.
Matt first attended Brown University, where he played football, and then finished his undergraduate education at Texas Tech University, where he graduated magna cum laude with a B.B.A. in Accounting in 2005. Matt graduated summa cum laude in 2008 from the Texas Tech University School of Law, finishing in the top 10 of his class and earning the Order of the Coif designation.
Matt and his wife, Robin, have two children, Olivia and William. In his free time, Matt coaches his son’s basketball team (the Amarillo Golden Goats), playing too many sports (golf, tennis, pickleball, basketball, and hockey, among others), cheering for the Dallas Cowboys, and reading. Matt serves on the Board of Directors of Kids, Inc., and the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce Business Council. He previously served on the Board of Directors for the Maverick Boys and Girls Club, and Amarillo Habitat for Humanity.

- Morga v. Sand Revolution II LLC, et al - Midland County, Texas, Represented an oil and gas service company in a catastrophic truck injury in Midland County. Jury returned a no negligence finding for our firm’s client.
- Bang v. Continental Resources, Inc. – Dunn County, North Dakota, Represented an oil and gas company in a lawsuit under the North Dakota Surface Damage Act. Plaintiff sought nearly $10 million in damages, and the jury returned a verdict for less than the original damage offer.
- DeWald Homes, LLC v. ServPro - Randall County, Texas, Represented subcontractor in a breach of contract action. Jury verdict for full contract damages and attorney’s fees.
- Brown v. Insignia Hospitality Group – Lubbock County, Texas, Represented a Marriott hotel in a premises liability claim. Jury returned a no negligence finding in favor of our firm’s client.
- AgTexas v. E6 Cattle Company, et al – Randall County, Texas, Represented a farm credit company in a UCC and fraud dispute related to a significant cattle theft/death case. Successfully prosecuted our client’s claims through trial, with full compensation for the losses.
- Southwestern Public Service v. Top of Texas – Ochiltree County, Texas, Represented our firm’s landowner client in an eminent domain jury trial and received a jury verdict for more than five times the statutory offer by the electric company.
- Corn Mill Enterprises v. Expelled Grain Products; Castro County, Texas, Represented our firm’s client in a fraud and breach of contract action against a former business partner in a joint venture. Jury returned a $7 million verdict for our firm’s client.
- Kladusak v. Tyson Fresh Meats; Potter County, Texas, Represented a beef processing plant in a non-subscriber negligence case. Jury returned a take nothing verdict in favor of our firm’s client.
