Selected to Rising Stars: 2019 - 2024 Thomas Jennings “T.J.” Roberts was born in Austin and raised in Lampasas, Texas. T.J. attended Austin College in Sherman, Texas. After college, he moved on to Texas Tech University School of Law. In Law School, T.J. served on numerous organization boards, including Vice-Chair of The Board of Barristers where he was voted the Board’s most outstanding member. During law school, T.J. served as law clerk for the 237th District Court of Lubbock County, Texas. T.J. was also a member of several national trial advocacy teams and was voted into the Order of Barristers, a national merit-based advocacy organization.
After law school, T.J. worked in Lampasas, Texas until 2013, when was subsequently hired as the Senior Associate and eventually partner for Scott M. Brown & Associates, handling family law matters. In 2019, T.J. partnered with Lenette M. Terry and William “Billy” Terry to form Terry & Roberts, where he is currently the managing partner. T.J. helps manage the team of attorneys at Terry & Roberts while handling the firm’s complex custody and complex property family law cases.
T.J. prides himself on being an aggressive litigator and passionate advocate for his Brazoria County clients, providing practical legal advice and personalized representation in all family law cases. He was recognized in the Texas Rising Stars list by Super Lawyers by Thomson Reuters from 2019 to 2024. In addition to his work at Terry & Roberts, T.J. is a faculty member at the National Family Lawyers Trial Institute and a speaker/presenter at various legal education conferences.
