For over 40 years, Alfred R. Herrera has been a staunch advocate for his clients through all the complex challenges they face in their legal matters. The founder of Herrera Law & Associates in Austin, Texas, he emphasizes his practice in public utility and administrative law on matters concerning landline, wireless, water/wasteland, and electric and gas communications. In addition, he also has wide practical knowledge of municipality law and complex business contracts, as well as appeals. For Spanish-speaking clients, he is fluent in the language and ensures no loss of communication.
Mr. Herrera completed his undergraduate studies in 1978 and graduated with his Bachelor of Arts degree from The George Washington University. He went on to enroll at the University of Texas School of Law, where he took part in many activities to strengthen his legal acumen and foundation, as well as his resolve to help future clients navigate their issues expeditiously and with care. He received his Juris Doctor in 1983, and in the same year, he obtained his license to practice law in Texas.
Throughout his illustrious career, Mr. Herrera has championed his clients’ legal goals, employing an unrelenting work ethic, personalized attention and meticulous focus in every case he takes on. He has routinely served as lead counsel before the Public Utility Commission of Texas and the Railroad Commission of Texas and, moreover, has handled numerous appeals before the Texas Courts of Appeals and the Texas Supreme Court. He also represented the cities of Amarillo, Houston, Austin, and Round Rock – among others – in myriad complex municipal law matters.
Within his legal community, Mr. Herrera maintains close affiliations with many prominent legal organizations, such as the State Bar of Texas (Public Utility Law Section), the Texas Bar College and the Austin Bar Association. He is also board-certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in administrative law and serves on the organization’s Administrative Law Advisory Commission. For his many contributions, he is peer-review rated Distinguished* through Martindale-Hubbell and holds a “Very Good” rating on Avvo.
