Mr. Schmid’s practice is primarily focused on federal litigation with a focus on patent litigation.
His professional background includes all aspects of patent litigation and inter partes review proceedings, including claim construction hearings; mediations; preparation of expert reports; depositions of expert and fact witnesses; drafting and negotiating license agreements, and infringement and invalidity contentions. In addition, Mr. Schmid has prosecuted patents in various technical fields, including software, mechanical, and biomedical applications.
Prior to obtaining his law degree, Mr. Schmid worked as a Research Engineer for The University of Texas Center for Electromechanics. His work there centered around the commercialization and development of an oil extraction process for the production of algal biofuels.
During his time at The University of Texas School of Law, Mr. Schmid kept busy. He served as Vice President of the Intellectual Property Law Society and was a member of the Texas Intellectual Property Law Journal. In 2012, he interned for the Honorable Caroline M.
