Jacob Merkord

Jacob Merkord is a distinguished partner at Marrs Ellis & Hodge LLP, a law firm with offices in both Austin and Houston, Texas. His legal practice is dedicated to defending the constitutional rights of Texas landowners who are confronted with condemnation and eminent domain proceedings. 

Hailing from Central Texas, Mr. Merkord completed his undergraduate studies with honors at the University of Texas, earning a Bachelor of Arts in history in 2007. He then pursued his legal education at Tulane University Law School, graduating in 2010. While at law school, he was an active member of the Tulane Moot Court and gained invaluable experience through internships with the Vice President of Uganda and the Orleans Public Defenders’ Office. 

After law school, Mr. Merkord honed his proficiency in property valuation at a leading appraisal firm in Austin, which equipped him with the skills necessary to join Marrs Ellis & Hodge LLP in 2012. One of his notable contributions includes presenting on "Legal Issues for Texas Civil Engineers – Eminent Domain and Condemnation" to the Austin Civil Engineers on August 13, 2014.
