James W. Evans, the founder of Evans Family Law, has helped his clients in Austin, Texas for more than 20 years. Focusing his practice on family law he handles matters involving prenuptial agreements, contested divorces, uncontested divorces, custody, spousal support, domestic violence. Bilingual, Mr. Evans is able to provide representation in both Spanish and English, and he is board-certified in family law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
As an undergraduate, Mr. Evans obtained his Bachelor of Arts in business communications from Austin College, graduating in 1991. He then went on to attend Texas Wesleyan University School of Law, which is now known as Texas A&M University School of Law. He graduated in 1994 with his Juris Doctor and is licensed to practice before all Texas state courts.
Mr. Evans honed his litigation skills by working as an assistant district attorney with the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney's Office for several years. While there, he prosecuted many cases involving domestic violence, sex crimes and others, allowing him to gain significant courtroom experience. After five years, he left for private practice, initially working at a firm focused on commercial litigation before founding his family law practice.
Mr. Evans continues to stay abreast of current developments in his practice areas through active participation in a number of professional organizations. His memberships include the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Texas and the American and Austin bar associations. Active in his community as well, he is a member of the board of trustees of the Lake Travis Youth Association.
