Manuel H. Newburger leads the Consumer Financial Services Law Practice Group at Barron & Newburger, P.C. He focuses his practice on both compliance and on the defense of individual and class action litigation across the United States.  

Over the course of his career, Mr. Newburger has counseled clients worldwide on issues relating to compliance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Telephobe Consumer Protection Act, and other federal consumer laws.  He has defended clients in consumer litigation across the United States, and he has appeared as amicus curiae counsel in a number of high-profile consumer cases at the United States Supreme Court ad various federal Courts of Appeals.  Mr. Newburger is board-certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in consumer and commercial law.

Beyond his work in the courtroom, community involvement and education are priorities for Mr. Newburger. He is the recipient of numerous service awards, including the President's Cup from the Commercial Law League of America. Mr. Newburger has previously served as chair of the State Bar of Texas' Consumer and Commercial Law Section; he is a life fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and a fellow of the American College of Consumer Financial Services Lawyers. A frequent speaker on topics related to consumer law, Mr. Newburger also serves as an adjunct professor of consumer protection law at The University of Texas School of Law.
