Mr. South attended St. Edward's University in Austin, Texas, receiving his Bachelor of Arts in 1981. He then went on to attend The University of Texas at Austin School of Law and was awarded his Juris Doctor with honors in 1984. Admitted to practice in Texas, Mr. South is also admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Western Districts of Texas, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit.
In order to continually improve his practice, Mr. South holds membership in several professional organizations. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas, The Texas Association of Defense Counsel, Inc., the Defense Research Institute and the American Board of Trial Advocates. He has also been recognized for his ethics and skill, earning a 10.0 "Superb" rating from his peers through Avvo and an AV Preeminent* rating from his peers through Martindale-Hubbell.
In his free time, Mr. South helps contribute back to the community by donating his time to several organizations including the Capitol Area Council, Boy Scouts of America. He is a past chairman of the City of West Lake Hills Zoning and Planning Commission, and has served on the board of directors of Capital Area Crime Stoppers.
