Before forming Peek & Toland, Mr. Toland worked as an assistant attorney general for the State of Texas. Prior to embarking on his legal career, he spent several years working in the broadcast and production industries in Louisiana and Los Angeles, California. He also worked for an entertainment law firm, an experience that inspired him to enter the legal field.
In addition to his law practice, Mr. Toland is deeply involved in the Austin community. He is a member of Austin Lodge #12, participates in the C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation and is a graduate of the Leadership Austin Emerge program. He is a member of the Austin Bar Association, the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, the Federal Bar Association and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
Mr. Toland earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Tulane University and a master’s degree in communications from Mississippi College. He received his law degree from St. Mary’s University School of Law in San Antonio, Texas. He holds licenses to practice law before all Texas state courts and the U.S. district courts for the northern, southern and eastern districts of Texas.
