From his eponymous law firm in Conroe, Texas, Douglas W. Atkinson is a conscientious attorney and works to get his clients relief from their weary legal issue. For over 25 years, he has diligently provided quality representation in matters pertaining to criminal law, with an added emphasis on drug crimes and DWI charges. He serves the residents of Montgomery and Harris counties, and at times throughout the state of Texas as well.
Mr. Atkinson doesn’t just look at his clients as another case, but as real human beings who have no recourse other than to fight their way through the crimes they have been charged with. The emotional toll that the stress can have on any individual during times like this is persistent and jarring. He helps to relieve the burden by using his shrewd legal acumen, his knowledge of state and federal law, and his tireless work ethic to push for dismissal or reduced charges, and later, expungement.
After graduating from Sam Houston State University in 1994 with his bachelor’s degree in communication, Mr. Atkinson enrolled at the South Texas College of Law Houston, where he served as president of the Student Bar Association and was awarded top marks in his Criminal Procedure and Criminal Trial Advocacy classes. He received his Juris Doctor in 1998, as well as his license to practice in Texas. He is also admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas and the United States Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit. Never one to be complacent, he pushes himself to learn more about his field by regularly participating in continuing legal education seminars.
For his consistent efforts in pushing forward the quality of legal services within his legal community, Mr. Atkinson has been recognized by myriad prominent legal organizations, with The National Trial Lawyers naming him to their Top 100 Trial Lawyers list on numerous occasions and the Montgomery County Bar Association (MCBA) acknowledging him as Trial Lawyer of the Year. In addition, he is also rated “Superb” on Avvo and is also the recipient of the site’s Clients’ Choice Award.
Outside his law practice, Mr. Atkinson stays actively involved within many organizations, including the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the National College for DUI Defense, the MCBA and the State Bar of Texas. Additionally, he holds memberships in the Montgomery County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, the Harris County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and the Texas Trial Lawyers Association.
