She received the Navy-Marine Corps Commendation Medal while serving as a prosecutor and chief of the Civil Law and Review Sections at Marine Corps Air Station in El Toro, California. She then transitioned to the Marine Corps Reserve, where she has continued to serve. She is now a Colonel and the Reserve Chief Defense Counsel of the Marine Corps. Prior jobs include three years as an appellate judge on the Navy-Marine Corps Court of Criminal Appeals, four years as a military trial judge, and training and mentoring Marine Corps prosecutors.
