A persistent and benevolent attorney, Steve A. Keathley is the founder of Keathley and Keathley Law Firm in Corsicana, Texas. He wholeheartedly dedicates himself to aiding clients in Navarro and Ellis counties. He primarily handles a wide range of criminal defense matters involving DWI, domestic violence, assault drug crimes, theft and burglary, weapons crimes, sex crimes, federal crimes and juvenile crimes. In addition, he extends his skills to cover civil and family litigation issues.
After accumulating valuable experience as a prosecutor in the 33rd Judicial District as well as for the district attorneys' offices of both Travis County and Brazos County, Mr. Keathley decided to use his knowledge to help people facing criminal charges. Subsequently, he assumed the role of criminal district attorney for Navarro County from 2002 to 2007, where he honed and refined his legal proficiencies.
A native of Corsicana, Mr. Keathley completed his B.A. at Texas A&M University in 1989. During his time at the university, he served as a member of the Corps of Cadets, the Ross Volunteers and as the Head Yell Leader. Later, he pursued his legal education and obtained his J.D. in 1993 from the Mitchell Hamline School of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota. He was licensed to practice law by the Supreme Court of Texas the same year.
Mr. Keathley’s work extends beyond representing those accused of criminal offenses. He holds active membership in the State Bar of Texas, Texas Bar College, the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association (TCDLA) and the Navarro College Police Academy Advisory Board. He has demonstrated his commitment to public service through his past roles as president of the Navarro County Texas A&M Club, treasurer of the Navarro County Bar Association and president of the James L. Collins Catholic School Parent/Teacher Association.
Achieving a "Superb" rating on Avvo, Mr. Keathley has also received many testimonials and endorsements from both his clients and peers on the platform. Additionally, he has been voted Best of the Best by the readers of the Corsicana Daily Sun for three years in a row, from 2009 to 2011.
A proficient orator, Mr. Keathley was a speaker at the TCDLA Seminar on Closing Arguments, held in both College Station and Waco, Texas, in 2019-2020. Furthermore, he is well-versed in both German and English.
