George H. Barber is a bankruptcy and debt attorney at the Dallas, Texas, office of Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP. He puts to use his more than three decades of legal experience and vast knowledge of Texas bankruptcy laws to help his clients wipe their slate clean and start over. He is also well-versed in business litigation, real estate and other banking and financial issues. 

Mr. Barber provides uncompromising and assertive advocacy to customers from multiple industries, including finance, real estate, retail, food outlets, health care, oil and gas, aviation, construction, manufacturing, transportation, power production, municipal finance and telecommunications.

Mr. Barber assists with declaring bankruptcy, foreclosures, restructuring, creditor-debtor issues, liquidation, asset purchases/sales, wage garnishments, debt consolidation, lease terminations, cash collateral use, DIP financing, adequate protection, plans of reorganization and more. He has efficiently tackled multiple jurisdictional issues, active evasions and other kinds of contested matters and adversary proceedings with regard to bankruptcy law, as well as the requisite appeals.

Before Mr. Barber pursued a legal career, he was an investment banker at one of the most renowned banks in Texas. There, he acquired proper credit education and worked for numerous years dealing with industrial and commercial loan workouts, real estate and oil and gas workout proceedings, foreclosures, bankruptcies and associated litigation.

After completing his Bachelor of Business Administration in finance at Texas A&M University in 1992, Mr. Barber graduated cum laude with a doctorate in law from the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law in 1990. While there, he won the American Jurisprudence Award in Constitutional Law and served as the managing editor of The International Lawyer, a law journal of the American Bar Association.

First licensed to practice in the state courts of Texas in 1990, Mr. Barber was later admitted to the United States Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit and the United States District Court for the Northern, Eastern and Southern Districts of Texas.
