In 1971, Mr. Howison received a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering and graduated with honors from The Catholic University of America. He went on to earn a Juris Doctor in 1981 from the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law.

Having more than three decades of experience in intellectual property law, Mr. Howison understands how these complicated regulations affect businesses, inventors, entrepreneurs and international entities. Before pursuing a career in law, he worked for nearly 10 years as a design engineer in high-frequency communications, which gives him special insight into issues involving digital and analog devices.

A registered patent attorney, Mr. Howison provides counsel regarding how clients might protect their intellectual property assets. He analyzes the details of each case and helps his clients take the right steps to prevent theft. Additionally, Mr. Howison consults on patent licensing negotiations for individuals and corporations. He has also served on several occasions as lead counsel before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
