Ms. Winkles is skilled and experienced in the representation of secured and unsecured creditors in bankruptcy proceedings. This representation includes relief from the automatic stay and objections to the confirmation of the bankruptcy plan, discharge, and discharge ability of debts and also handles adversary proceedings. She handles proof of claims and applies for release of unclaimed funds in bankruptcy court.

She is also skilled and experienced in the representation of secured and unsecured creditors in state court proceedings. Heather handles unsecured collections, judicial and non-judicial foreclosures, recovery of collateral via sequestration/replevin, impounds/challenging mechanics’ and storage liens, forfeiture/ seizure of collateral by state and local governments, bonded titles, adjudication of liens and title, evictions. Her representation also focuses on enforcement of judgments by domestication of foreign judgments, post-judgment discovery of assets, executions, garnishments, and appointment of turnover receivers.

Ms. Winkles earned her law degree from South Texas College of Law including a mediation certificate from the Frank Evans Center for Conflict Resolution. Heather was an Articles Editor for the Currents: International Trade Law Journal. She clerked for the Texas Attorney General’s Office and served as a Judicial Intern for the 311th District Court in Harris County, Texas. Heather also competed in mock trial and was a quarter-finalist in the Abraham Watkins Mock Trial Competition. She was selected to the Dean’s Honor List and awarded the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Professional Responsibility. Ms. Winkles earned her bachelor’s degree from The University of Texas at Austin including a business certificate from the Red McCombs School of Business.

Her most beloved moment of her law school career came as a participant in a study abroad program in Galway, Ireland, where she took direct instruction from United States Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia. As a law student of Justice Scalia, she learned to unveil the frequent legal arguments that the late Justice said, “will come before the Court clad, so to speak, in sheep's clothing” and to vehemently advocate when the, “wolf comes as a wolf."
