A 1973 graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, Mr. Jett obtained his Juris Doctor from Southern Methodist University School of Law in 1977. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Northern and Eastern Districts of Texas, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit, the U.S. Supreme Court, and various other U.S. Federal Courts.

A leader in his legal community, Mr. Jett once served as president, as well as officer and board member, of the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. He also chaired the Criminal Defense Lawyers Project and served as president of the Dallas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. He is also former chair of The State Bar of Texas Criminal Justice Section Council, and he is an active member with several other local, state and national legal organizations.

Mr. Jett has several publications to his credit, and he conducts lectures and continuing legal education seminars throughout his region and across the country on a variety of legal topics.
