Jodi McShan brings a unique blend of personal experience and professional acumen to the practice of law. She is an attorney and a founding member of McShan Law, Dallas, Texas. Her background in business and intellectual property law, coupled with her focus on family law and family violence cases, allows her to advocate effectively for her clients, ensuring both their rights and their children’s well-being are protected.
After completing her Bachelor of Science degree in psychology and Spanish at Vanderbilt University in 2006, Ms. McShan pursued her passion for law at the University of San Diego School of Law, earning her J.D. in 2009. She further concentrated on family law, obtaining an L.L.M. from the University of London in 2016. Currently, she is furthering her education at Texas A&M School of Law where she is working towards her L.L.M. in Wealth Management. She is licensed to practice across several federal courts, including the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Eastern and Southern Districts of Texas and even the United States Supreme Court.
In her legal practice, Ms. McShan does not take a one-size-fits-all approach. She believes in empowering her clients and involving them in the decision-making process to tailor strategies that best suit their individual situations. This could range from assertive litigation to amicable negotiations, depending on the unique needs of each case.
Ms. McShan's commitment to the legal community is evident through her active participation in multiple legal associations. She has held various leadership roles in the Dallas Bar Association, including chair of the Collaborative Law and Solo & Small Firm Sections. Her involvement extends to the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers and the Dallas Women Lawyers Association, among others. She also contributes to the broader legal community through her service on the Professionalism and Bench-Bar Committees and her mentorship in the STEER program.
Throughout her career, Ms. McShan has been recognized for her contributions and leadership, notably serving as the president of the National Advocates, which also selected him to its list of Top 40 Under 40. She has also received a “10.0” rating on Avvo.
