Joseph E. Legere

A highly regarded civil trial lawyer, Joseph E. Legere is an attorney at Staubus | Blankenship | Legere | Walker PLLC. Working out of the firm's office in North Texas, he focuses his practice largely on estate and probate litigation, providing astute representation to clients throughout the state. Mr. Legere has been admitted to practice before all Texas state courts since 2001, and he has also been admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Eastern Districts of Texas for nearly 20 years.

A significant portion of Mr. Legere's practice has involved will contests. In this regard, he has represented potential beneficiaries and heirs who are challenging the document on the basis of a variety of matters, including undue influence, fraud, lack of testamentary capacity, and forgery. Mr. Legere has also assisted executors and beneficiaries who are defending against these types of challenges, and many estate planning attorneys have relied upon him to defend the validity of wills that they have drafted.

Mr. Legere has also represented trustees and beneficiaries in actions involving breaches of fiduciary duties, trust termination and modification, and risk management and fiduciary removal. In addition, he has worked on complex personal injury and wrongful death litigation involving catastrophic torts, and he has represented small companies in contract breach actions and other types of business disputes.

As an undergraduate, Mr. Legere attended The University of Texas at San Antonio and received a bachelor’s degree in 1997. He then went on to pursue his legal education at what was then known as Thomas M. Cooley Law School and was awarded his Juris Doctor in 2001. He is active in several community service organizations.
