Karen Roberts Washington

Karen Washington is the founding attorney of the law firm Roberts Washington Group, situated in Dallas, Texas. She handles cases involving business (fraud or misrepresentation, contract, business dissolution, fiduciary claims and construction business owner actions), employment (discrimination and retaliation, noncompetition agreements, comp retaliation, employment separation, Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)) and probate court (wills, probate and guardianships) matters. 

Ms. Washington has been practicing as a dispute resolution professional for decades and helps clients constructively through her neutral capacity. Acknowledged by many esteemed organizations for her legal services and ethical standards, she is the recipient of many accolades, including:

With a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish from Texas Tech University, Ms. Washington pursued her legal studies further at The University of Texas at Austin School of Law, graduating with her Juris Doctor degree in 1984. She has extensive experience representing cases on both sides (plaintiff and defendant) in all county, state and federal courts in Texas, the U.S. Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit. 

Much of Ms. Washington’s decorated track record has involved her acting as an independent hearing examiner, mediator, arbitrator, trial board hearing officer and administrative law judge. Her practical and results-oriented approach, creative thinking skills and compassionate outlook differentiate her from the other attorneys in her field. Owing to her previous experiences owning businesses, she acknowledges the complexities of these issues and tackles them creatively. She holds a “Superb” rating on Avvo and is fluent in Spanish.

Ms. Washington is actively affiliated with many notable legal associations, such as the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals, the Texas Academy of Distinguished Neutrals, the Dallas Bar Association (Alternate Dispute Resolution Section chair and member of the Labor and Employment Section and Probate Section), the Association of Attorney Mediators, the Uniform Law Commission and the Texas Bar Foundation (life fellow).
