Mark D. Wigder serves as of counsel at Kaplan Law Group, PLLC, in Dallas, Texas. With over five decades of experience in the legal sphere, he handles cases involving business law, securities law, and mergers and acquisitions law. He manages complex matters for private companies, investors, and financial institutions in and around the Dallas and Fort Worth metropolitan areas. These matters include corporate governance, entity formation, private financings and exit planning.
Having graduated with a bachelor’s degree in government and economics from The University of Texas at Austin, Mr. Wigder started off with a strong understanding of economics and finances. He later proceeded to enroll at The University of Texas School of Law to hone his litigation skills. At law school, he was named to the Chancellors and the Order of the Coif. He also graduated in the top 1% of his class with high honors. In the year 1972, he earned his license to practice law in Texas.
Before starting his practice as a business law attorney, Mr. Wigder worked as an attorney at the U.S. Navy Judge Advocate General’s Corps, handling matters including military justice, international law, environmental law and operational law for commanders. Since 1975, he has completely focused his practice on corporate and business law.
Mr. Wigder is an active member of the Dallas Bar Association, the State Bar of Texas, and its Securities Law and M&A Sections. He has also engaged in lectures extensively on capital formation, acquisition strategy and securities regulation for The University of Texas School of Law, the Practising Law Institute and the Exit Planning Institute. Additionally, he is listed in the Who’s Who in American Law reference directory and has received an AV Preeminent* peer-review rating through Martindale-Hubbell.
