    Verdicts/Settlements:

    • Melanie served as lead trial counsel in a breach of contract and fraud case in which the Plaintiffs alleged that they were defrauded out of their mineral rights in connection with a sale of their property. The jury returned an 11-1 no-liability defense verdict in favor of Melanie’s client after only one hour of deliberation, 2009
    • Melanie served as lead trial counsel in a case where an insured sued the firm’s insurance company client for bad faith, seeking approximately $3 million in damages. A unanimous jury returned a judgment against the Plaintiff for $899,160 on the firm’s client’s counterclaim for fraud, 2013
    • Melanie served as lead trial counsel in a nuisance and gross negligence lawsuit in which the Plaintiffs complained that alleged noise and vibrations from a gas compressor station plant interfered with their use and enjoyment of their properties. The jury returned a unanimous no-liability defense verdict in favor of Melanie’s clients after only 20 minutes of deliberation, 2011
    • Melanie served as trial counsel and lead appellate counsel in Spinnaker Pointe Homeowner’s Association v. TXU Elec. Delivery Company, 2007 WL 2247372 (Tex. App. – Dallas, 2007, no pet.), in which the appellate court upheld a defense judgment in favor of Melanie’s client, holding that the utility had no responsibility for the repair of an underground electric cable, 2007
    • Melanie served as lead trial counsel in a nuisance and gross negligence lawsuit in which the Plaintiffs complained that alleged noise, odors, lights, dust, emissions, and traffic from a gas compressor station and gas processing plant interfered with their use and enjoyment of their properties.  The jury returned an 11-1 no-liability defense verdict in favor of Melanie’s clients after only two hours of deliberation, 2010
