Monte K. Hurst is a shareholder at Hallett & Perrin, P.C. Certified as a specialist in labor and employment law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, he focuses a large part of his practice on that area of the law, and he has a general business litigation caseload as well. Based in Dallas, he provides representation to companies throughout the state.
Mr. Hurst majored in political science at Tulane University and graduated in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts. He then enrolled at South Texas College of Law Houston and in 1996 obtained his law degree. Prior to joining Hallett & Perrin, P.C., in June 2015, Mr. Hurst was a partner at a Dallas firm, where he focused his practice on labor and employment law. Admitted to practice in Texas, he is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Southern, Northern, Western, and Eastern Districts of Texas, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States.
Mr. Hurst confines his labor and employment law practice solely to the representation of employers. He has defended these clients against a variety of allegations, including discrimination, wage and hour claims, and wrongful termination and other acts of retaliation. Mr. Hurst also regularly furnishes advice and counsel to his employer clients on such matters as regulatory compliance, risk avoidance, hiring and termination policies, affirmative action, sexual harassment training, and ERISA matters. Outside of the employment area, Mr. Hurst has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in a wide variety of actions, in court as well as before arbitration panels. His excellent track record has earned him an AV Preeminent* peer review rating through Martindale-Hubbell.
