O. Rey Rodriguez practices in Collin County, TX, where his work focuses on trials and appeals in state and federal courts, catastrophic personal injury actions, mass consumer litigation, as well as business and real estate–related arbitrations, trials, and appeals.
With over three decades of courtroom experience, Rey built his appellate credentials early, serving as a Briefing Attorney to storied Chief Justice Nathan L. Hecht of the Texas Supreme Court. Since 2006, Rey has been Board Certified in Civil Appellate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
Earlier stages of Rey’s career included roles as a litigation and appellate equity partner at both Fulbright & Jaworski and at Norton Rose Fulbright, after which he launched his nationally recognized boutique practice. Academic achievement has been a consistent theme: Rey graduated as the valedictorian in both college and law school, and earned the Top Score on the 1994 Texas Bar Examination (914 points out of possible 1,0000). While serving as a Director at the SMU Dedman School of Law, Rey received an Outstanding Law School Faculty Award.
Rey’s casework covers a wide array of civil disputes. His docket has included product and premises liability claims, motor carrier and construction litigation, consumer protection and contract disputes, as well as matters involving defamation, energy, executive employment, discrimination, noncompete agreements, trade secrets, fraud, breach of fiduciary duty and real estate issues. In product liability matters, he has acted as amicus appellate counsel for the Product Liability Advisory Council and represented manufacturers across automotive, building materials, chemical equipment, consumer electronics and HVAC sectors including in mass and class action litigation across the country.
Rey is admitted in every Texas state and federal district, several Federal Circuit Courts of Appeal and the U.S. Supreme Court. He has presented appellate arguments in the Supreme Court of Texas, U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th, 9th and 10th Circuits, and before intermediate appellate courts throughout Texas.
Outside his professional work, Rey founded "Dad BODs" (Dad Butlers On Demand), a pro bono initiative that offers single parents free legal consulting, arranges home and automotive repairs, and negotiates major purchases on their behalf. That program reflects his commitment to combining rigorous appellate and trial work with hands-on community service.
