A highly-regarded business trial attorney and general counsel, Tom M. Dees, III is a shareholder at Hallett & Perrin, P.C. Tom provides informed and trusted representation to clients throughout Texas and beyond from Hallett & Perrin, P.C.'s office in Dallas, having appeared in trial courts in California, Colorado, Idaho, and New York. Tom is admitted to practice in Texas courts and before the United States District Courts for the Northern, Southern, Eastern, and Western Districts of Texas as well as before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and the United States Supreme Court.
Tom has an active civil litigation practice, representing plaintiffs and defendants in a variety of contexts. Tom's caseload has included contract disputes, business torts, real estate disputes, probate and trust matters, oil and gas disputes, intellectual property disputes as well as general business disputes and business divorces. Tom also frequently acts as outside general counsel for individuals and businesses, providing advice and counsel, and overseeing legal teams conducting business transactions and on matters such as estate planning, real estate transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and entertainment law, among many other matters. Tom's excellent track record in all of these endeavors has earned him an AV Preeminent* peer review rating through Martindale-Hubbell. A member of several professional organizations, Tom is a life fellow of the Dallas Bar Foundation and the Texas Bar Foundation and he is active in several professional, business, and community organizations as well.
Tom obtained a B.A. in philosophy at The University of the South as an undergraduate. He then returned to Dallas, Texas and attended Southern Methodist University School of Law where he was an Articles Editor for the Journal of Air Law & Commerce and served as lead research assistant for William V. Dorsaneo, III. Before joining Hallett & Perrin, P.C. in 2010, Tom was a partner at Thomas & Dees.
