In the vibrant city of El Paso, Texas, Maxey Marie Scherr launched Scherr Law Firm in 2022, marking a new chapter in her illustrious legal career. Having litigated countless jury trials resulting multi-figure verdicts and settlements, Ms. Scherr specializes in commercial trucking accidents, traumatic brain injuries, wrongful death claims and complex third-party liabilities.
Board-certified in truck accident law by the National Board of Trial Advocacy and personal injury law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, Ms. Scherr has obtained the highest levels of competency in her field. Her dedication to her clients and the pursuit of justice is unwavering, exemplified by her securing a $10.65 million verdict in the firm’s inaugural trial.
A scholar at heart, she graduated with high honors in psychology from the University of MassachusettsBoston and pursued postgraduate studies in neuroscience at Harvard University. In 2008, Ms. Scherr earned her law degree from Texas Tech University School of Law, and is fluent in Spanish.
As a prominent figure in the legal community, she currently serves as Secretary for the Academy of Truck Accident Attorneys (ATAA) Executive Board and a member of the Board of Regents. She actively holds several leadership roles in the American Association for Justice’s Trucking Litigation Group and Traumatic Brain Injury Litigation Group, championing education, diversity and inclusion.
Ms. Scherr’s commitment extends to the State Bar of Texas, where she sits on the Rules of Evidence Committee. Known for her insightful presentations and articles, she passionately advocates for improved trucking safety and increased awareness of brain injury issues. In El Paso, she serves on the Downtown Management District Board and the Women’s Rights Commission. In 2023, she also initiated the Scherr Law Firm Scholarship and Internship Program to support local high school students interested in legal careers.
Throughout her career, Ms. Scherr has received numerous accolades. She holds an AV Preeminent peer-review rating* through Martindale-Hubbell and a “Superb” rating on Avvo. Recently, TopVerdict.com celebrated her for securing two top-five verdicts and two top-five settlements in Texas.
