From the moment she stepped into her first courtroom at age seven, Leah W. Coulter understood that advocacy would define her life’s work. Growing up amid the complexities of her parents’ divorce, she gravitated naturally toward family law, recognizing early on the profound impact skilled representation can have on families in transition. Today, as a partner at OWLawyers Trial Law in Frisco, Texas, she draws on more than two decades of experience to champion the interests of spouses and children throughout North Texas.
A North Texas native, Ms. Coulter graduated from Lancaster’s Elsie Robertson High School in 1994. She then embarked on her collegiate journey at Kilgore College before transferring to Hardin–Simmons University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science with minors in history and legal studies in 1998. During her undergraduate tenure, she earned multiple leadership and academic awards, foreshadowing her future success in the legal arena.
After obtaining her Juris Doctor from Baylor Law School and securing admission to the State Bar of Texas in 2004, Ms. Coulter quickly established herself as a tenacious litigator. She has tried both family law and civil matters before juries and judges across the region, achieving favorable outcomes in divorce proceedings, custody disputes, support matters, asset division and more. Yet she remains convinced that the most meaningful victories often occur outside the courtroom. She strives to guide clients toward resolution through mediation and informal negotiation, reserving trial for situations in which agreement proves unattainable.
Ms. Coulter’s commitment to her profession extends beyond her caseload. A life fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation, she is active in the Collin County Bar Association and takes part in its Family Law, Attorney Moms and Women Lawyers sections. Most recently, Baylor Law School invited her to serve as an adjunct professor for its Family Law Bootcamp, where she shares her courtroom insights with the next generation of litigators.
