Attorney Ryne T. Sandel is an associate with the Whalen Law Office in Frisco, Texas. Representing the rights and liberties of clients throughout the greater Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and surrounding areas, Mr. Sandel devotes his practice exclusively to criminal defense, and he has achieved significant success advocating on behalf of those facing serious criminal charges such as DUI, drug trafficking, federal offenses and white collar crimes, guns and weapons violations, and other felonies and misdemeanors.
Over the course of his legal career, Mr. Sandel has gained a reputation as a tireless and devoted legal advocate who has the skills and resources necessary to obtain the favorable outcomes his clients expect and deserve efficiently and cost-effectively. Along with maintaining a successful trial practice, he is also a highly effective negotiator and mediator with the foresight to determine when it is best for his clients to come to agreeable terms regarding their situations rather than go to trial.
Mr. Sandel takes his role as legal counselor very seriously. Through his background in psychology, he is able to more readily address the mental and emotional turmoil his clients are experiencing as a result of their predicaments while striving to provide some sense of comfort and peace of mind about their chances of obtaining the positive results they seek. Recognized for his outstanding professionalism and service, Mr. Sandel has earned numerous top ratings from his peers as well as many testimonials and referrals from his satisfied clients.
A 2008 graduate of Texas A&M University, Mr. Sandel obtained his Juris Doctor from Texas Wesleyan University School of Law in 2012. A dean's list scholar in law school, he served as member of the Board of Advocates Mock Trial Committee and placed first in the Intramural Mock Trial Competition. He also provided academic support as a teaching assistant and graduated sixth in his class.
Mr. Sandel is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Northern and Eastern Districts of Texas as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit. He is also an active member of the American Association for Justice, the American Bar Association, the Dallas Bar Association, and the Dallas and Texas Trial Lawyers Associations, among his other professional affiliations.

- Client faced allegations of domestic violence and sexual assault and the purported victim applied for a protective order. Appeared at the contested protective order hearing and succeeded in winning the hearing. Protective Order (which would have barred my client from renting apartments or possessing firearms) was denied. The win at this hearing also served as the basis for the District Attorney deciding not to prosecute the two criminal case allegations., 2021
- Took a Collin County DWI 2nd case to jury trial. Client had a previous conviction for D.W.I. and a B.A.C. of 0.137. Client admitted to drinking and admitted to intoxication. Jury returned a verdict of Not Guilty on the DWI 2nd., 2020
- Took a Collin County DWI case to jury trial. Client had a B.A.C. of 0.225 (almost three times the legal limit), admitted to drinking and admitted to intoxication. Client was carrying a gun in the car so was also charged with Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon. Jury returned a verdict of Not Guilty on the DWI. District Attorney agreed to dismiss the UCW. Was able to expunge this event off my client’s record completely., 2020
- Client was charged with a federal felony with a punishment range of 10 years to life. Based on the offense conduct and his history, his recommended sentence based on the sentencing guidelines was 210 to 240 months. The client had an extensive criminal history and his involvement in this drug conspiracy was integral. In almost every other circumstance, he would have been sentenced at the high end of the guideline range. The Government requested the court to sentence him to the full 240 months recommended. However, I successfully argued several objections to his presentence report and advocated on his behalf at sentencing and he was ultimately sentenced to 108 months, thus cutting his sentence ostensibly in half over the arguments of the Assistant United States Attorney., 2019
- Client was engaged in an altercation in which he stabbed another individual. Was being investigated by the Frisco Police Department. Through communication, negotiation and advocating on his behalf, I convinced the Frisco Police Department not to file any criminal charges against him. Client was going through a nasty divorce and the ex-wife was attempting to use this allegation against him in the custody battle. Had the case been filed, not only would he have been arrested and charged with a second-degree felony, but he likely would have faced significant family law repercussions., 2019

- Lead attorney, multiple cases dismissed against juvenile clients facing charges of Sexual Assault in both Denton County and Collin County, Texas, 2018
- As lead attorney, negotiated numerous cases to resolutions ending in dismissal and expunction. These cases ranges from Class C misdemeanors up to felony level offenses for which many of my clients will now avoid suffering the stigma of having a criminal history. , 2017
