Scott J. Becker

Scott J. Becker is a partner and attorney at the law firm of McCathern, Shokouhi, Evans, Grinke, based in Texas. Board-certified in family law and civil trial law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, he focuses his practice on helping clients in Frisco, Texas, and the surrounding areas. He also represents people in the field of criminal law.

Mr. Becker earned a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Texas at Austin. He obtained his doctorate in jurisprudence from the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law in 1997, where he was inducted into the Order of Barristers.     

With more than 24 years of legal experience, Mr. Becker has served for about eight years as the presiding judge of the Collin County 219th State District Court, overseeing a wide range of legal matters, from multimillion-dollar litigation to felonies and other criminal disputes. He is licensed to practice in Texas and holds memberships in the Curt B. Henderson American Inn of Court, the Collin County Bar Association and the Texas Academy of Family Law Specialists.

The knowledge Mr. Becker gained from his roles as a prosecutor and judge has helped him in assisting his clients to maneuver legal issues and make informed decisions in complex cases. He is often consulted to resolve matters through methods of alternative dispute resolution (ADR), such as mediation, arbitration or negotiation, owing to his unique combination of experience.
