The founder of Brown, PC, Lawrence Brown focuses his practice on a variety of federal and state tax matters. His firm is based in Fort Worth, and he represents people and businesses in Tarrant County and throughout the state of Texas.Â
Admitted to practice in Texas since 1993, Mr. Brown is also admitted to practice in Massachusetts and Maine and before several federal trial and appellate courts, including the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Western, Southern and Eastern Districts of Texas, the U.S. Tax Court, the U.S Court of Federal Claims, the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the 1st and 5th Circuits, and the Supreme Court of the United States. He is a 1984 recipient of a Bachelor of Arts cum laude from Tufts University and a graduate of Syracuse University College of Law.
Prior to forming his own firm in 1992, Mr. Brown was an attorney at the Tax Division of the U.S. Department of Justice, where he handled tax litigation and investigations on behalf of the federal government. He now uses this experience on behalf of those of his clients who are facing civil and criminal charges and investigations. Mr. Brown’s experience in this regard has included contesting disputes at the U.S. Tax Court or District Court levels as well as defending clients who have faced criminal charges of tax fraud or tax evasion. He has also represented people and companies that have received audit notices from the Internal Revenue Service, and he has resolved post-audit collection issues through installment payments innocent spouse relief and offers in compromise. Mr. Brown’s successful track record in all of these endeavors has earned him an AV Preeminent* peer review rating through Martindale-Hubbell.
