Attorney Profile

After many years of practice, Dick Price saw the trend of Family Law cases almost always settling, instead of going to trial. To help with that process, he became a mediator, which improved his negotiating skills as well as opened up opportunities to help people settle their cases.

Beginning in 2000, Collaborative Law came to Texas and Dick began practicing and promoting Collaborative as a healthy, creative and more peaceful way to resolve legal issues, such as divorces. Dick is now one of the few Master Credentialed  Collaborative Professionals in Texas.

Richard C. Price focuses his practice exclusively on Family Law matters. He is Board Certified as a Specialist in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. From the firm's office in Fort Worth, he represents clients throughout Tarrant and Parker Counties, whether it be in Court or in Collaborative Law meetings at convenient locations in the County or in mediations.

The primary focus of Mr. Price's practice is using Collaborative Law to help people facing the end of their marriages have a more peaceful, civilized and customized experience. We deal with traditional issues such as property division, spousal support, and child support and visitation, but in a way that allows people to come to agreement and stay out of court.

People may want to try Collaborative Law if they: value privacy, want to be the ones deciding how things will be resolved, want control over the timing of their divorce, need expert help but don't want to pay two experts to compete with each other, have complex property issues that requirement careful thought or need a customized visitation schedule because of the unique lifestyle of one or both of the parties.

In the Collaborative Law process, the parties and their attorneys agree not to go to court. Instead, they have a series of meetings. They determine the needs and goals for each party, gather and share information, create options for settlement and then reach agreements . We normally use a neutral financial  professional and a neutral mental health professional to help the clients gather information and develop settlement options.

Mr. Price also has extensive experience as a mediator.

Highly regarded by his colleagues, Mr. Price has received a 10.0 "Superb" peer-review rating through Avvo. He is a frequent speaker at State Bar of Texas seminars, has spoken at International Academy of Collaborative Professionals Forums and has been a trainer for attorneys getting started in Collaborative Law.
