Steve Maxwell is a managing partner with the firm Bailey & Galyen. He has practiced law in Tarrant County, Texas, for over 40 years, primarily focusing on personal injury trial law with an emphasis on truck-wreck litigation. Since 1984, Steve has been Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Board Certification is a mark of excellence and distinguished accomplishment attained by fewer than 8% of Texas attorneys. It indicates that Steve has substantial experience and proven competence in personal injury cases.
Steve has been recognized as one of Fort Worth Magazine’s Top Attorneys from 2003 through 2021 and a Texas Super Lawyer for the years 2004-2011 and 2014-2022. In 2012, he was presented with the Professionalism Award by the Tarrant County Bar Association.
Steve’s trial practice has included over 100 jury trials, including Consumer and Deceptive Trade Practices Act cases, medical malpractice cases, and commercial litigation. Admitted to practice before all Texas state courts, Steve also is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Western and Eastern Districts of Texas and the District of New Mexico, as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Steve has served as a mediator for more than 30 years and successfully mediated over 500 cases. He previously served as a board member and vice president of Dispute Resolution Services of Tarrant County (now DRS of North Texas).
As an undergraduate, Steve attended Trinity University in San Antonio, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1972. For his legal education, Steve attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he was a member of the International Law Journal before receiving his Juris Doctor in 1975. Steve is a past president of the Tarrant County Trial Lawyers Association and the Tarrant County Bar Association. He also has served as an elected director of the State Bar of Texas. Steve was Chairman of the Tarrant County Democratic Party for five years and has served as a delegate to the Texas Democratic Convention.
