Stephen knows construction. For over thirty years, Stephen has resolved construction disputes for contractors, owners and design professionals. With two of his partners, Stephen was in the first group of attorneys to ever be Certified in Construction Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in 2016. He has taught Construction law at Texas A&M Law School, beginning in 2016. Stephen has been selected as a Super Lawyer in Construction Law each year by Thomas and Rueters since 2005. For his service to the construction industry, he received the Service/ Integrity/ Responsibility Award from the Associated General Contractors of America, Fort Worth Chapter. He was a registered professional engineer before entering law school at the University of Texas, and was a principal shareholder of a prominent consulting engineering firm. For 20 years, he was also Board Certified in Commercial Real Estate by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
Stephen frequently is lead counsel in cases and arbitrations involving construction defects, delay damages, change order disputes, changed conditions, lien and bond claim disputes, breach of construction contracts, and defective design claims.
