Cameron Byrd is a trial lawyer who represents plaintiffs and defendants in commercial and intellectual-property cases involving breach of contract, fraudulent transfer and veil-piercing, trade-secret misappropriation, covenants not to compete, and employment disputes. As lead counsel, Mr. Byrd has succeeded for his clients at each stage of litigation, including trial, requests for emergency and permanent injunctive relief, and motion practice.

Mr. Byrd is recognized nationwide among the top young lawyers for commercial litigation. In 2021 and 2022, he was named to the peer-reviewed list of Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch. In 2018, he was one of six associates recognized for “Best in Client Service” by BTI Client Service All-Stars, which included client praise for Mr. Byrd as “highly effective.”

Mr. Byrd is a graduate of the University of Texas School of Law. During law school, Mr. Byrd received the Dean’s Achievement Award for Outstanding Student in Intellectual Property and served as Teaching Assistant for Texas Civil Procedure.

REPRESENTATIVE MATTERS
  • As lead counsel, Mr. Byrd took over a 12-year-old case on the eve of trial and won a unanimous jury verdict in federal court for secured-creditor clients on questions of priority under Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code, fraudulent transfer, and veil piercing. As a result of this verdict, Mr. Byrd’s clients recovered seven figures’ worth of collateral and obtained the dismissal of sixty million dollars’ worth of fraudulent-transfer and veil-piercing claims in related cases.
  • As lead counsel, Mr. Byrd took over a 13-year-old case on the eve of trial and won a bench trial in state court that resulted in a declaratory judgment and $650,000 in attorney’s fees for Mr. Byrd’s financial-services clients. As a result of this win, in related cases, Mr. Byrd’s clients recovered six figures in attorney’s fees and obtained the dismissal of seven figures’ worth of fraudulent-transfer and veil-piercing claims.
  • As second chair, Mr. Byrd obtained a seven-figure settlement and agreed injunctive relief for an oilfield-services company following a temporary-injunction hearing in state court on claims for trade-secret misappropriation, breach of a covenant not to compete, and tortious interference with contract.
  • As second chair, Mr. Byrd obtained a favorable settlement for an enterprise-software client following jury selection in state court on claims for breach of contract and trade-secret misappropriation.
  • As lead counsel, Mr. Byrd obtained a seven-figure settlement and agreed injunctive relief for an oilfield-services client on claims for trade-secret misappropriation and tortious interference with a covenant not to compete after obtaining deposition admissions that the defendant falsified accounting records to conceal the defendant’s misconduct.
