Charles M. Stam

Charles M. Stam is a distinguished attorney at Thompson Stam PLLC, a reputable law firm located in Houston, Texas. His practice primarily focuses on personal injury cases, particularly those involving trucking and motor vehicle accidents. Mr. Stam provides legal representation for clients in Houston and throughout the state of Texas, addressing serious injuries and fatalities resulting from oil field mishaps, 18-wheeler collisions, maritime incidents and catastrophic accidents in plants and refineries.

Mr. Stam's academic journey began with an undergraduate degree in history and political science from Columbia University. He then pursued his legal education at The University of Texas School of Law, where he graduated with honors, earning the distinction of cum laude. During his time at UT Law, Mr. Stam was an active member of the editorial board for The Review of Litigation. He also gained valuable experience interning for the Honorable Xavier Rodriguez, a United States District Judge for the Western District of Texas, and worked as a research assistant.  

After completing law school, Mr. Stam moved to Mississippi to serve as a clerk for the Honorable Debra M. Brown, a United States District Judge for the Northern District of Mississippi. This experience enriched his understanding of the legal process and honed his skills in litigation. Licensed to practice law in Louisiana, Texas and Mississippi, Mr. Stam brings a wealth of knowledge and a diverse perspective to his clients.

Continuing his professional development, Charles obtained an LL.M. at Temple University's James E. Beasley School of Law, graduating with honors.

Before his current role at Thompson Stam PLLC, Mr. Stam worked at a boutique trial firm in Houston, where he was involved in representing institutional plaintiffs in complex commercial litigation. His commitment to excellence has been recognized with a "Superb" rating from Avvo, along with multiple accolades such as being named to the Top 40 Under 40 by the National Trial Lawyers in 2023, 2024 and 2025. Additionally, Mr. Stam is a Life Member of both the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum.

Mr. Stam is actively involved in various legal associations, including the Texas Trial Lawyers Association, where he serves as a board member, as well as the Houston Trial Lawyers Association.
