Chris Flood is a highly sought after attorney with Flood & Flood and represents clients in state and federal courts throughout the United States. Throughout his career, he has tried over 100 cases to verdict and has more than three decades of experience, starting as a prosecutor and now as a defense attorney. With insight into how both sides of the courtroom work, Mr. Flood focuses his practice on federal and state criminal defense including: health care fraud defense, defense of executives charged in FDA adulterated food cases, fraud cases and other white-collar offenses.

At the University of Texas at Austin Mr. Flood earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting and then attended St. Mary’s University of San Antonio, where he obtained a Juris Doctor in 1986. He is now a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, the Harris County Criminal Lawyers Association, the Bar Association of the Fifth Federal Circuit, the Texas Bar Foundation and the American Bar Association.

In 2017, Mr. Flood was appointed by the lieutenant governor to be a Commissioner of the Texas Ethics Commission and was elected Chairman in 2025. He is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, the U.S. District Courts for the Western, Eastern, Southern and Northern Districts of Texas, the U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois and the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado, the Supreme Court of Texas and the State Bar of Texas.

Chris has represented executives from Stanford Financial, Enron, Transocean’s Deepwater Horizon, Reliant Energy, Coral Energy and El Paso Energy. Chris has also been involved in adulterated food cases including his successful representation of the former CEO of Blue Bell Ice Cream. Chris has tried federal criminal cases in Texas, New York, Florida, Illinois, California, Oklahoma, Missouri, North Carolina, Colorado and other states. Chris’s experience is unique because he also carries a large state court caseload and has been admitted pro hac vice in many other states.

In addition to his criminal practice Chris handles complex civil cases including cross-border litigation in Mexico.
