An experienced criminal defense attorney, Dustan Neyland represents clients in Houston, Texas. At Greco Neyland, PC, he manages issues of criminal law at both the state and federal level, assault, DUI/DWI, sex offenses, fraud, drug violations, theft and drug offenses. After graduating from The University of Texas at San Antonio with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and with a major in Economics and Finance, Mr. Neyland moved on to law school. Currently he is a member of the Texas Bar Association, New York State Bar Association, a founding member of the DUI Defense Lawyers Association, a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. and a member of the Harris County Criminal Lawyer's Association.

Prior to starting his criminal defense practice, Mr. Neyland was employed with criminal justice agencies consisting of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, the Oklahoma City University Police Department, the Oklahoma County District Attorney’s Office, and as an assistant district attorney for the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. Mr. Neyland has used this valuable experience to fight for the rights of his clients who have been accused of committing a crime.

Verdicts / Settlements (Case Results)

  • Dustan represented a client charged with Indecency with a Child by Sexual Contact.  This allegation came from the mother of the child after the client was exercising his rights to visitation.  The mother did not want the client in the child's life.  This case was set for trial and ultimately dismissed at trial., 2025
  • Dustan represented a client charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.  The client was involved in a car accident without injuries and after exchanging information and waiting over 20 minutes for police to arrive, he decided he would leave the scene.  The people he was in the accident with claim that he tried to run them over with his car when they tried to stand in his way.  Once Dustan got involved, his team was able to track down independent witnesses and camera footage from a nearby business and a nearby home that showed the allegations did not exactly match what was said by the alleged victims.  Dustan put together a Grand Jury presentation and the case was "No Billed" by the Grand Jury., 2025
  • Client was charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child.  18 year old client met a girl on social media who represented that she was 16 when in fact she was 14.  Because of the actual age difference, the client did not have the "Romeo and Juliet" defense when the parties are 3 years apart.  Dustan conducted his investigation and prepared a defense presentation for the Grand Jury.  After reviewing the case, the Grand Jury returned a "No Bill" ending the prosecution and giving the client his freedom., 2025
  • Dustan represented a client charged with Unlawful Installation of a Tracking Device for placing airtags in a vehicle driven by his estranged spose.  The state argued that the spouse had a greater right of possession to the vehicle than the defendant had.  This case was taken to trial and a Jury returned a verdict of Not Guilty., 2025
  • Client was charged with Assault - Family Violence relating to an incident where there was an argument and a struggle over a phone.  Dustan took this case to trial and after a three day trial to a Jury, a verdict of Not Guilty was rendered.  , 2025
  • Dustan represented a client charged with felony assault by impeding breath and convinced the DA to dismiss the case on the day of trial.  A few months later, the DA re-filed the case as a misdemeanor.  We took this case to trial and the jury returned a verdict of Not Guilty.  This case was motivated by the alleged victim using the criminal justice system to gain advantage in a divorce child custody case.  Ultimately the client wouldn't plea to something he didn't do and the Jury made sure that justice was done., 2025
  • Client was charged with drug trafficking in Federal Court.  Their prior attorney did not handle the case appropriately and the client was looking at a sentence of 10 years (120 months).  Dustan stepped in on the day of sentencing and was able to convince the court to grant a continuance of the sentencing and let him substitute the prior attorney.  After working through the case, the client ultimately received a sentence of 57 months. , 2025
  • Client was charged with Money Laundering in Federal Court.  The guidelines recommended by US Probation called for sentence of 168 - 210 months because the money was alleged to be drug proceeds which would track the drug trafficking guidelines instead of the money laundering guidelines.  Dustan was able to convince the Court to reject the recommendation by US Probation and sentenced the client to 24 months according to the money laundering guidelines. , 2025
  • Dustan represented client in Federal court for firearms trafficking for using straw buyers to purchase 50 caliber rifles for resale to drug trafficking organizations in Mexico.  The guidelines sentencing recommendation would have put the client in jail for 70 - 87 months.  After arguing against the Governments position at sentencing and preparing a thorough sentencing memorandum, the client received a 12 month sentence., 2024

  • Juvenile client was charged with murder.  Self defense was an issue.  Jury found the client guilty because they felt that client did act in self defense when shooting the complainant.  However, client was sentenced to a term of probation. , 2024
