Emily B. Taylor is a shareholder with Rapp & Krock, PC, in Houston, Texas, where she delivers comprehensive counsel in estate planning, disability planning, elder law, and probate and trust administration. Since earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Texas A&M University in 2011 and her Juris Doctor from South Texas College of Law in 2014, she has devoted her career to guiding individuals and families through life’s most significant legal and personal milestones.
Ms. Taylor’s client-centered approach begins with developing tailored testamentary plans, including wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, and supplemental need trusts that address each client’s unique financial, familial and charitable objectives. She advises the strategic establishment of ABLE accounts, pooled trusts and charitable bequests. Additionally, she prepares essential ancillary documents, including powers of attorney, HIPAA authorizations, guardianship designations and living wills, ensuring that her clients’ wishes are respected in any circumstance.
Recognizing the challenges of aging and long-term care, Ms. Taylor assists clients in protecting assets, navigating gift-giving strategies, and securing eligibility for Medicaid and other means-tested benefits. She advocates for clients in home-based care, assisted living and nursing-facility Medicaid applications while counseling families on avoiding and mitigating the impact of the Medicaid Estate Recovery Program.
In the probate arena, Ms. Taylor represents executors, administrators and beneficiaries across a spectrum of court-supervised and independent administrations, including muniments of title, heirship and declaratory judgments, and small estate affidavits. She drafts family settlement agreements and assists with claim withdrawals from Medicaid estate recovery.
Admitted to practice in Texas, Ms. Taylor is AV Preeminent* peer-review rated through Martindale-Hubbell and recognized in Best Lawyers “Ones to Watch” (2022–2026). She is an active member of the Texas Probate Law American Inn of Court, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (Texas Chapter committee member) the Houston Bar Association Elder Law Committee (past co-chair) and numerous civic and collegiate organizations.
