H. Mark Burck is senior counsel at Houston, Texas-based Hanszen Laporte. A highly regarded civil litigation attorney, he provides defense representation to people and insurers and other companies in cases involving personal injury and wrongful death, dangerous products, premises liability, and construction defects. Mr. Burck has a particular focus on trucking accidents, both local and interstate, and he defends trucking companies and truck drivers in that regard. His premises liability cases have included water parks, carnivals, go-cart arcades, and amusement parks.
Mr. Burck has been certified as a specialist in personal injury trial law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He has also been certified as a specialist in civil trial law by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. Held in high esteem by his fellow professionals for his superb ethics and outstanding track record, Mr. Burck has received an AV Preeminent* peer review rating through Martindale-Hubbell.
Majoring in finance, Mr. Burck attended the University of Florida as an undergraduate, and he received both a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Arts in 1982. He then moved to Dallas to pursue a legal education at SMU Dedman School of Law, and he was awarded his Juris Doctor in 1986. Mr. Burck was the managing partner at a Houston firm until joining Hanszen Laporte in 2014. Admitted to practice before all Texas state courts, he is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Southern, Eastern, Northern and Western Districts of Texas as well as before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit. Mr. Burck's professional affiliations include the Trucking Industry Defense Association, and he is an active participant in the Good Steward Global Initiative, a nonprofit organization that provides books to residents of underdeveloped countries.
