Jason E. Williams, a partner in the firm, practices in the areas of commercial litigation, construction litigation, and energy litigation. He has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in complex commercial litigation cases in state and federal court and in AAA administered arbitrations.
Jason has an engineering background, and his practice focuses on areas that allow him to take advantage of that background. He has substantial experience in construction litigation, including construction defect litigation, design errors and omissions claims, contractor termination matters, and construction delays. He also has substantial experience in financial disputes, including securities litigation, breach of fiduciary duty litigation, and insurance. His practice also includes substantial experience in oil and gas disputes, including drilling, pipelines, refining, energy trading, and trade secrets.
A Texas native, Jason graduated from St. John’s School in Houston and earned his Bachelor of Engineering degree from Vanderbilt University in 1997. He earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Houston Law Center in 2004. While in law school, Jason was an Articles Editor for the HoustonLawReview. He was a member of Order of the Barons and Order of the Coif. Prior to joining the firm, Jason was a Senior Associate with Fulbright & Jaworski LLP. Before attending law school, Jason worked for four years as a mechanical engineer in the manufacturing and construction industries.
Jason has argued as lead counsel before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. He has also handled multiple cases involving jurisdiction under the Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards.
