Jay Cohen established Blass Law PLLC in 2009 to defend the rights of Houston, Texas, residents who are accused of criminal and DUI/DWI charges. Since then, his firm has grown to include personal injury law, fiercely defending the rights of accident victims. He takes on clients throughout the larger Houston area in addition to the Harris, Fort Bend County, Montgomery and Galveston counties.
Mr. Cohen stays one step ahead of his clients and consistently delivers exceptional outcomes. He underwent training as a Drug Recognition Expert and is certified as an ACS-CHAL Forensic Lawyer-Scientist. He additionally holds certification in forensic chromatography for both drugs and alcohol and is an authorized practitioner and instructor in Standardized Field Sobriety Testing. He is dedicated to giving his clients the finest outcome possible and battling to the very end on their behalf.
A native of Houston, Mr. Cohen completed his BBA in finance at SMU Cox School of Business in 2005 followed by his legal education at South Texas College of Law Houston in 2009. The same year, he was admitted to the State Bar of Texas. He was recognized by Who's Who as one of the Top 30 Students and was part of the fraternity Kappa Alpha during his time at the law school.
Mr. Cohen, a dedicated community servant, has worked for the City’s Zoning Board of Adjustment, while actively contributing to various community initiatives. For over a decade, he has been a committed volunteer for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, aiding in their mission to empower Texas youth.
A founding member of the DUI Defense Lawyers Association, Mr. Cohen also holds active affiliations with the Harris County Criminal Lawyers Association, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, the Houston Bar Association, the American Chemical Society and the National College for DUI Defense.
