Jeff Nobles joined Smith Haley Nobles and opened the firm’s Houston office in 2017. He has a long and successful record handling challenging appeals against other leading appellate lawyers in many types of cases, including business disputes, personal injury lawsuits, media defense, probate matters, family law, political controversies, and bankruptcy matters, among many others. He has developed deep and strong relationships with clients and referring lawyers who trust his advice, skill, and integrity in handling difficult issues and appeals.

Jeff began his legal career as a briefing attorney for Justice James F. “Bud” Warren of the First Court of Appeals in Houston. He became a partner in the appellate section of Haynes and Boone in 1995, and helped found the appellate boutique Smith, Nobles & Adams in 1997. In 2000, his firm merged with Beirne, Maynard & Parsons, where he worked as a partner for many years. Jeff obtained certification as a Civil Appellate Specialist by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in 1991. He has been recognized as a “Texas Super Lawyer” in Civil Appellate Law in each year since 2003.

Jeff graduated from Princeton University in 1980, where he earned an A.B. in History, and attended Union Theological Seminary of New York City, where he was a North American Ministerial Fellow. He graduated from Baylor Law School in 1986.
