Jessie D. Herrera, Jr.

Jessie D. Herrera Jr. is a partner at Patterson + Sheridan LLP in Houston, Texas. With over a decade of experience, he has established himself as a reliable source for companies looking to build, maintain and safeguard their intellectual property (IP). Serving in Houston, he also represents clients in matters involving patent preparation for chemical communications technology, consumer products, electronics, semiconductor technologies, industrial products, medical devices and prosecution, as well as technology licensing and IP transactions.

Before entering IP law, Mr. Herrera graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor's in mechanical engineering and worked as a mechanical engineer designing industrial tools and equipment. His experience in engineering acts as a foundation for his practice of IP law. In 2007, he earned his J.D., cum laude, from the South Texas College of Law Houston and proceeded to get his license to practice in Texas. He is also licensed to practice in the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Mr. Herrera developed an accord with the energy industry in Houston through his prior experience. He employs the same approach to guide leading oil and gas service companies. He started his career at Patterson + Sheridan LLP as a summer associate and quickly grew up the ranks with his dedication and quality of work. Intellectual property requires one to understand the client’s industry deeply to tailor solutions. He doesn’t shy away from learning from scratch, the ins and outs of the industry.

He is a member of the Hispanic Bar Association of Houston, the Intellectual Property Owners Association and the Houston Young Lawyers Foundation. He is also an alumnus of Leadership Houston, a nonprofit organisation that develops community leaders. Furthermore, he is a fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation. Only one-third of 1% of Texas attorneys are invited to become a fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation, making it one of the highest honors.
