A skilled litigator with decades of experience, he has litigated legal matters related to civil RICO litigation, construction litigation, engineering design, investment disputes, complex contractual disputes, domestic and international arbitrations, energy litigation, transportation liability defense, cross-border litigation and employment litigation.  Mr. Clay has first-chair trial experience in complex commercial litigation and domestic and international arbitrations.   He is known for his proficiency in presenting and simplifying complex technical and legal issues.

At Rice University, Mr. Clay was a National Merit Finalist and earned his Bachelor of Arts in Classical Studies in 1993. He then moved on to law school at the University of Houston, where he graduated cum laude with his Juris Doctor. While in law school, he was involved with the Order of the Barons and was the Notes and Comment Editor for the University of Houston Law Review.  After law school, he served as a law clerk for the Hon. Edith H. Jones, United States Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit, in 1996-97.  He also served for two years as a task force staff attorney for the First Court of Appeals in Houston.

Admitted to practice in the state of Texas, Mr. Clay is also admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas. He is fluent in English, Spanish and French.
