Lenard M. Parkins is a respected founding partner at Parkins & Rubio LLP, situated in the Houston office, with a wealth of experience spanning over 40 years in corporate bankruptcy law and complex bankruptcy litigation. His practice primarily focuses on advising and representing a diverse clientele, including large and medium-sized corporations, bondholders, indenture trustees, boards of directors, asset buyers, chapter 11 plan sponsors, secured lenders, special servicers, private equity and hedge funds, oil and gas interest holders, equity interest holders, liquidating trustees, and creditor committees.
Mr. Parkins holds a Juris Doctor (1976) from the University of Houston Law Center, where he served as managing editor of the Houston Law Review and was a member of the Order of the Barons Honor Society. He completed his undergraduate studies with a Bachelor of Science from Washington and Lee University. Admitted to the bar in Texas in 1976 and New York in 2008, he is also authorized to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, several U.S. Courts of Appeals and multiple U.S. District and Bankruptcy Courts.
Before joining his current firm, Mr. Parkins was a partner at a Fortune top 50 and 100 international law firm and led the bankruptcy and business restructuring practice in New York City. He has also shared his experience as an adjunct professor of law at the University of Houston Law Center, teaching Chapter 11 strategy and litigation. He also has experience handling financial restructurings, workouts, litigation and appeals across a variety of industries, both out-of-court and in formal reorganization cases filed throughout the United States.
Throughout his illustrious career, he has been consistently accoladed with several recognitions, including being honored by The Best Lawyers in America since 2005 and has received acclaim from several organizations, such as The Legal 500, Chambers and Partners, and more.
