Matthew S.C. Hansel

Serving clients through the Houston, Texas-based firm, Hanszen Laporte, Matthew S.C. Hansel is a partner at the firm. He concentrates his practice on civil litigation matters and transactional work in different fields and serves clients in the Houston area.

Mr. Hansel is well known for being a fierce legal advocate and a brilliant and resourceful courtroom litigator. He gives each client the individualized attention and diligent counsel they need because he cares deeply about the legal challenges that impact the people in his community.

With a Bachelor of Science in economics and a Bachelor of Arts in international studies and international economic development, Mr. Hansel graduated from The University of Utah. He earned his Juris Doctor in 2014 with a focus on international business, trade and commerce from the American University Washington College of Law.

While in law school, Mr. Hansel was a member of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Honor Society and a member of the executive board of the International Trade and Investment Law Society. While in law school, he served as a clerk at the United States Department of Commerce with the Office of the Chief Counsel for Trade Enforcement and Compliance.

In a competition between universities focusing on international business negotiations, Mr. Hansel came out on top. In addition, he received top honors as the class's most persuasive speaker. He received authorization to practice law in 2014 by the State Bar of Texas and is licensed to practice in all Texas state courts and the U.S. District Courts for the Southern, Northern, Eastern and Western Districts of Texas.
