Melanie Bragg

The founder of Bragg Law PC, Melanie Bragg has a diverse general civil practice that encompasses several areas of the law. Located in Houston, Texas, her client base consists of individuals and businesses throughout the greater metropolitan region and out of state. Admitted to practice before all Texas state courts, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas and in Colorado, Ms. Bragg is a Martindale AV Preeminent Peer Rated Attorney, one of an elite group of attorneys who have been rated highly by their peers as having Very High Ethical Standards and an A grade (4.5 or higher). Bragg is a longtime mediator and arbitrator and handles a wide variety of disputes, always working hard to ensure that the parties can resolve their differences in the most cost-effective and efficient way. From car wrecks, probate disputes, property valuation cases, family law, real estate and business transactions, she is someone who can get the job done.

Ms. Bragg focuses a portion of her practice on estate planning and probate administration/fiduciary litigation. In this regard, she has reviewed and prepared wills, trusts, financial and health care powers of attorney, and advance medical directives. When representing the beneficiaries of a decedent's will, she helps guide them through probate in order to ensure that the estate is properly administered and that the process is completed as quickly as possible. Ms. Bragg has handled hundreds of probate cases during her career, and her experience in probate court has also included being appointed as guardian ad litem for elderly clients whose mental and physical health has declined.  She handles guardianships as well having served as guardian herself many times through the years.  Having her on your team when the family problems hit is a big asset for any client. 

Bragg handles family law matters. For many years she has acted as Amicus Attorney on behalf of children in cases where they are too young to be allowed to express their own opinions before a judge. She helps you have as amicable a divorce as possible and can help you learn how to successfully co-parent. Working well with opposing counsel is imperative to help clients save on their legal fees.

Another aspect of Ms. Bragg's practice involves providing advice and counsel to entrepreneurs, starting with business formation and extending through contract review and regulatory compliance. Bragg will incorporate your business and help you with the start up and will help you with contracts and issues that arise keeping your business safe.

Bragg is an author, having authored 3 books, 2 published by the American Bar Association.  She writes a column for the ABA Solo, Small Firm & General Practice Division (GP Solo) e Report - one month she does Mindfulness 101 and the next month she does Defining Moments: Insights into the Lawyer's Soul where she interviews lawyers and does leadership columns.  Bragg serves on the ABA House of Delegates (HOD) and a HOD committee, Issues Affecting the Legal Profession on behalf of the Houston Bar Association.  She is also a past Chair and now a Director of the GPSolo Division where she co-chairs the first Wellness Committee and she also co-chairs the first Houston Bar Association Wellness Committee.  Bragg is a frequent public speaker on wellness and lawyer ethics.

Her experience also includes criminal cases, juvenile and child protective services matters. A graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, where she majored in political science and received a Bachelor of Arts cum laude, Ms. Bragg's got her law degree at the University of Houston Law Center.
